Copaiba Skin Benefits

As a longtime traditional medicine in South America and particularly Brazil, the benefits of copaíba resin oil are numerous. From treating skin conditions to improving the health and natural beauty of your skin, this oil is one to consider adding to your skincare routine. Copaíba oil is well known for its healing effects thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, making it a wonderful treatment for infection, skin conditions, and muscular/skin pain relief. It’s actually considered to be one of the most anti-inflammatory substances on Earth!

In addition to its acne-preventing and blemish-treating properties, copaíba oil is packed with nourishing vitamins and minerals that benefit your skin. Some of the most notable benefits of using copaíba oil on your skin include:

  • Neutral emollient that retains moisture within the skin
  • Anti-inflammatory thanks to richness of the compound beta-caryophyllene, which is the same active found in CBD oil
  • Contains natural acne-fighting properties
  • Infuses the skin with powerful nutrients and compounds to help reduce the appearance of acne, scarring, stretch marks and other blemishes
  • Astringent properties help tighten the skin and muscles and prevent the appearance of wrinkles
  • Lightweight carrier oil that’s perfect for a natural beard oil

Andiroba Benefits

As an ingredient in natural skin care products, andiroba seed oil benefits the skin, joints and muscles due to its anti-inflammatory, conditioning, and rejuvenating properties. Its vitamins and minerals promote the growth of new skin cells, so it is highly beneficial for speeding up the healing of skin after injury, rash and skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema.

Andiroba oil also contains a collagen booster that plumps skin and improves firmness, so it works very well as a treatment for fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. The oil penetrates the skin easily to deep-treat dry skin and rejuvenate skin cells.

Some of the vitamins and minerals that make andiroba seed oil so effective include andirobin, Vitamins A, C, and E, in addition to linoleic acid, palmitic acid, oleic acid, stearic acid, and more. Andiroba oil is rich in fatty acids as well, providing highly effective antioxidizing properties.

As a skincare solution, andiroba seed oil is used to:

  • Protect skin from the elements
  • Heal dry, cracked skin
  • Treat chronic skin conditions including eczema and psoriasis
  • Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Condition and smooth the skin
  • Treat inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, rheumatism, and muscle pain
  • All-natural insect repellent
  • Promote natural and healthy hair
  • Stimulate healthier hair growth by stimulating the flow of blood to the scalp

Macadamia Skin Benefits

Buriti

In addition to beta-carotene, buriti oil is rich in some great vitamins, minerals and fatty acids, including vitamins C and E. The vitamin E content helps protect the skin from the appearance of aging as well as the effects of stress, thus engaging an effective anti-aging benefit that is complimented by the firming benefit from the oil’s essential fatty acids. Vitamin E also works with vitamin C to be a strong antioxidant and protect the skin against UV rays, by absorbing a portion of the UV spectrum. This also allows the oil to eliminate free radicals, which contribute to skin damage and aging. Finally, the oil is a wonderful emollient that deeply moisturizes the skin.

Beyond moisturizing and protecting, buriti oil has a variety of applications for hair and skin care, such as:

  • Anti-inflammatory properties treat rashes, irritation, redness and sensitive skin
  • Photo-protective properties prevent sun damage from UV rays
  • Enhances the youthful appearance of skin, natural anti-aging elixir
  • Rich moisturizer for the skin
  • Keeps skin cells healthy for longer
  • Excellent at hydrating and conditioning hair
  • Protects hair from heat styling (blow drying, curling, straightening)
  • Helps prevent split ends
  • Adds gloss and shine when spread through hair (controls frizz)
  • Detangles coarse and curly hair very well

Her Story

My passion for plants started when I was a child working in the garden with my mum. She passed on her knowledge about gardening, plants, home-made products and so much more. I first started recording information about herbs when I was 13-years-old.

Living in rural Brazil, the women that surrounded me always made their own medicines. When someone was sick they would go to the garden or sometimes the forest to collect the special ingredient and back to the kitchen. A brew, tincture, cream or syrup would offered. I was fascinated by the healing power of plants and wanted to make sure I remembered their unique qualities. When I finished school I felt the calling to further my studies about healing, and settled into a Bachelors of Health & Science (Naturopathy). I wanted to be able to provide my family with genuine, strong, holistic care, which I can now do.

The stories, legends and myths of female healers and warriors from across the world inspired me ever more. I remember reading books such as the Mists of Avalon and identifying myself with it. I was also lucky enough to grow up in an area where I was surrounded by strong women who practised healing in their day to day life. For thousands of years women have been renown as incredible healers.

The involvement of women in the field of medicine has been historically recorded in several early civilisations. An Egyptian, Merit Ptah (2700 BC), described in an inscription as “chief physician”, is the earliest woman named in the history of science. Agamede was cited by Homer as a healer in Greece before the Trojan War. Agnodike was the first female physician to practice legally in 4th century BC Athens. Metrodora was a physician and generally regarded as the first medical writer.

However, the medical profession was male dominated for over 300 years as governments decided that only those trained in universities were allowed to formally practise medicine. As women were not allowed into the universities they could not gain a licence. Women did, however, continue to practise medicine. Women have always been central in providing medical care, whether offering remedies in the home, midwifery or acting as herbalists. In the mid 19th century, women’s participation in the medical professions was finally “allowed”.

Now that women can go back to using their power, we can move towards a different reality,  regaining the rights to practice healing, speak up and live in our bodies as they are. Appreciating our bodies and loving one self is of vital importance in creating positive global change. Using organic wholesome products, food and medicine is one way of showing ourselves this self love.

This is why I choose to grow my own food and make my own products and medicine wherever I can..
